Maundy Thursday 2023: Bela Church

The Paschal Triduum begins with Maundy Thursday, which observes the institution of the Eucharist by Jesus Christ during the Last Supper. The Catholic Church also commemorates this day as the day of instituting the sacrament of Holy Orders.

Maundy Thursday was observed at Our Lady of Dolours Church, Bela on 6th April 2023. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist began at 5 pm. presided over by Rev. Fr Stany Pereira, the Parish Priest, and concelebrated Rev. Fr. Anil Avild Lobo . The liturgy was led by parishioners chosen from different wards. Rev. Fr. Anil Avild Lobo washed the feet of twelve parishioners chosen as apostles, symbolizing the simplicity and service which Jesus Christ stood for. The choir helped the faithful to participate in the Eucharistic celebration meaningfully and devout way. The Eucharistic celebration was followed by placing the Holy Eucharist in the Altar of Repose. The parishioners participated in the adoration in front of the Altar of Repose conducted by Rev. Fr. Anil Avild Lobo.
