“To the weak I became weak, so that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, so that I may share in its blessings” (1 Corinthians 9:22-23).
A Memorial Mass for late:
Rev Fr Mathew Vas, former parish priest of Bela Parish who passed away on 22.10.2021, was celebrated by Bela parishioners on Sunday 21st of November 2021 at Bela Church. The parish priest, Rev Fr Stany Pereira presided over the mass with Fr Anil Avild Lobo has concelebrant. There was a short ceremony of eulogy soon after mass followed by lunch. The parishioners helped generously through donations and voluntary service to prepare meals.
Rev Fr Mathew Vas served Our Lady of Dolours church, Bela from 1998 to 2004. He built the new church and presbytery and belfry. He was a good pastor and worked hard for the social development and spiritual upliftment of people and won the reverence from parishioners and people of Bela in general. Like the words of St Paul 'he became all things to all people'
