Monthi Feast celebrated at Bela Church

The feast of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary popularly known as "Monthi Fest" was celebrated in a solemn way at Our Lady of Dolours, Bela on Sunday September 8, 2024. The celebration of birth of Mother Mary began at 8:00 am at Marian Grotto with the blessing the new paddy corns and offering of flowers to the Infant Mary. Rev. Fr Rocky Fernandes conducted the prayer service of blessing of the new corn. Later, the children offered/shiwered flowers to the Infant Mary. Subsequently, the faithful proceeded in a procession to the church.

Rev. Fr. Stany Pereira, the Parish priest presided over the solemn festal Holy Mass. Fr Rocky Fernandes and Fr Peter from Vijayapuram Diocese concelebrated the mass.

Rev. Fr. Stany Pereira conveyed the greetings of Monthi Fest to all the parishioners and thanked and honoured all the parishioners who helped financially in celebrating the feast with candles as sign of gratitude. Following the Mass, the Gurkars distributed blessed new corn to the parishioners.

After the Mass, sugarcane was distributed to the Children and parishioners.
