Kuntikana (Infant Mary) Ward celebrates its Annual Feast

The members of Kuntikana Ward celebrated their ward patron, Infant Mary’s feast, on Sunday, 29th September 2024. The Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated at 7:30 a.m. by Rev. Fr. Rocky Ravi Fernandes, with the ward members conducting the liturgy in a meaningful and solemn manner.

The ward day celebration was held at the residence of Mr John D Souza at 7:00 p.m. The guests in attendance included Rev. Fr Stany Pereira, Parish Priest of Bela Parish; Sr. Violet, Animator of the ward; Sr Marceline Brags and Sr Jancy, superiors of both the convents; Mr Cyril Crasta, Vice-President of the PPC; Mrs Cicilia D'Souza, Secretary of the PPC; Mr Stany Crasta, Convenor of SCC Bela; and Bro. Aaron, Regent; Mr John D Souza, the ward Gurkar; Ms Janet D Souza and Mr Melwin D Souza, the ward representatives, Ms Jeshma D Souza, the secretary of the ward, other ward members, the gurkars of other wards.

The program began with a prayer dance, led by the children and youth of the ward, seeking the blessings of Almighty God. Mr Godfrey Monteiro welcomed the gathering, followed by the lighting of the lamp by the guests. Mrs Sujatha D'Souza delivered a eulogy, remembering the ward members who had passed away during the year. The ward secretary, Ms Jeshma D'Souza, presented the annual report, highlighting the activities and achievements of the past year.

Following this, several honours were presented by the guests. Families who had moved to other wards and parishes, top scorers in various examinations, achievers in the fields of sports and arts, winners of games organized throughout the year, newlywed couples of the ward, and the family of the ward Gurkar, Mr John D'Souza, were all recognized. Additionally, the 93rd birthday of Mrs. Angeline D'Souza, the eldest member of the ward, was celebrated with great joy.

All the guests shared their festal wishes with the ward members during the program. Parish Priest Fr Stany Pereira praised the Gurkar and ward members for their dedicated service and contributions to both society and the parish community. The children, youth, elderly, and other ward members participated in a variety of cultural programs, providing entertainment for all. Fr Stany also delighted the audience with his melodious singing.

Mr John D Souza and Mrs Lancy D Souza expressed their gratitude with a heartfelt vote of thanks. The ward feast day celebration concluded with a delicious dinner. The program was compered by Mr Joel and Ms Jenita.
